According to the plan, Marc Savard will speak to the media today at noon for the first time since he was concussed by a Matt Cooke blindside hit in Pittsburgh March 7.
It’ll be interesting to hear what Savard has to say about Cooke and the new NHL rule against blindside hits. The Cooke hit, of course, was used prominently during the general manager meetings when the rule was being formulated, and on the video distributed to let players and team personnel know that hits like that won’t be tolerated anymore.
As he will be speaking just one hour before the Bruins square off with Calgary, there should be no limit to the Bruins’ motivation on the ice — win one for Savvy should be the rallying cry with a huge two points on the line. Both Atlanta and the New York Rangers will be in action tonight.
