BOSTON — With 40 saves tonight at TD Garden, Ryan Miller showed again why he’s the probably Vezina Trophy winner this season.
Miller’s Buffalo Sabres left town with a 3-2 win, while Boston departed for New Jersey still just two points up on Atlanta, who did the Bruins a favor by losing to lowly Carolina.
Here are a couple postgame notes:
•Dennis Wideman was a minus-3 and both of Buffalo’s first two goals got a piece of him before eluding Tim Thomas. Wideman also managed no shots on net in his 18:55 of ice time.
•David Krejci now has a four-game point streak after he scored the Bruins’ first goal of the night.
•Head coach Claude Julien confirmed that defenseman Andrew Ference will not travel to New Jersey with the team and an update on the blueliner’s injury situation will be available in the next day or so. Ference might have to undergo season-ending surgery.
