McQuaid might be a possibility

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Defenseman Adam McQuaid was a solid contributor for Boston in 15 games prior to the Olympic break, and he figured he’d get some more seasoning during that break by skating with the Providence (AHL) farm club.

However, McQuaid suffered an upper-body injury in Florida during the last Bruins game before the break and has missed 20 straight contests with the P-Bruins.

With Boston having its own problems with injuries and ineffectiveness on the back end, McQuaid could provide the parent club with some needed depth in the postseason when healthy. Assistant general manager Don Sweeney said that without any setbacks, McQuaid could be ready to play for the P-Bruins on their last weekend. That would give the Bruins the option of summoning McQuaid if they desired. McQuaid said after the P-Bruins’ win tonight that he’s feeling better and figuring he can be back in the lineup next weekend.

MK: Maybe the only thing between Dennis Wideman and a seat in the press box is McQuaid’s ailing upper-body.
