Before you start with your accusatory emails calling me a homer, just listen to why I think the Bruins will pull this out. There’s no reason to believe that Tuukka Rask will play any different in net than he did during the regular season. So if the goaltending battle is a draw, it’s going to come down to which team can grind out some offense.
With Milan Lucic starting to round into form and making his line with Patrice Bergeron and Mark Recchi into the type of two-way line head coach Claude Julien loves and opposing puck-carriers hate, I really think the Bruins can slow the Sabres down and work their way to victory.
The Bruins will win if … they forecheck ferociously, throw their bodies around and get some bounces around the net.
The Sabres will win if … they can get through the neutral zone with speed and take Rask off his game with traffic and great passing.
My pick: Bruins in 7. I just think that this team has gone through too much to go down in the first round.
