WILMINGTON, Mass. — Head coach Claude Julien said during his noon media briefing that there’s been no update in Andrew Ference’s status, even after the Bruins defenseman made it through a second full-squad practice at Ristuccia Arena this morning.

“I haven’t been given the green light on him yet. Hopefully we’ll know sometime today or tomorrow. And right now I haven’t been given the green light by anybody,” said Julien.

Not only are there questions about Ference’s availability, but doubts about how long his groin/hernia injury could hold up in the heat of playoff battle. Even if Ference plays in Game 1 against the Sabres Thursday night, the clock would be started toward the end of his season.

“There’s no guarantees in his situation when he does come back,” Julien acknowledged. “And I think he’s been clear in telling you guys the same thing that I’m telling you now. It could go well, and then maybe not. There’s nothing we can do about it. If you think that playing him more or less is going to help, it’s got nothing to do with playing more or less, it’s got to do with the situation whether it’s capable of taking it or not.”
