In the Bruins’ Game 2 and 4 victories over Buffalo in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Sabres, Boston head coach Claude Julien shifted left winger Milan Lucic to a line with Steve Begin and Shawn Thornton for the third period and added Daniel Paille to the left of center Patrice Bergeron and right winger Mark Recchi.
It looks like Julien will start tonight’s Game 5 with that alignment that has worked so well.
“For some reason, it seems like every time I play with those guys my game gets back to where it needs to be,” Lucic said after Thursday’s practice. “So I’ve just, no matter who I play with, I’ve got to find my game and I think we’ll probably stick with that going into next game.”
Marc Savard, as expected, joined his teammates for the skate. But he’s still only cleared for “light” contact and skating. If the Bruins have their way, there’ll be no chance for Savard to return against Buffalo because they’ll end the series before he’s ready.
