PHILADELPHIA — On the ice, you won’t find many players more honest than Mark Stuart.
After the Bruins’ 5-4 overtime loss to Phiadelphia tonight in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series at Wachovia Center, Stuart proved he can be brutally honest off the ice as well.
Stuart, playing for the first time since April 1 because of a finger infection, logged just 9:46 of ice time but still managed to post a minus-2 rating. He didn’t take a single shift in an overtime that lasted 14:40.
“I made some mental mistakes and that cost us,” he said. “But no excuses. I can be a lot better than that.”
“A little bit, but I just physically felt all right. I just made some mental mistakes out there. But I’ll be a lot better.”
He also understood why he was pinned to the pine in the extra session.
“I wasn’t surprised that I wasn’t out there,” said Stuart. “I don’t think I showed enough during the game to deserve to be out there in overtime. So I wasn’t too surprised by that.”
