Burke
The rumors about the Bruins possibly sending Marc Savard to Toronto won’t go away.
Today Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke tried his best to dispel those rumors.
Appearing on the Team 590 in Toronto, Burke said the following:
“The rumour – what I read anyway – is that Boston is looking to move this player. We have some options, presented to us over the weekend, trade-wise, that do not involve this player (Savard) that we are looking at.”
Of course, taking Burke at his word, what he says doesn’t mean Savard hasn’t been discussed and doesn’t mean that talk about Savard couldn’t be revisited at a different point and time.

jd…..tampering??? The leaks are all coming from Boston. You’d love to unload this dude… if he can even remember his own name? Set it up and then point fingers when people are forced to talk about it? gimmee a break eh?
Matt – this is getting pretty close to tampering, isn’t it ? Should a GM be allowed to say that another team is “allegedly” trying to trade one of their players ? I know it’s not a textbook example of tampering, but it’s a classless move by Burke – regardless of whether the player is actually being shopped or not.
