BOSTON — Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli today confirmed that assistant coach Doug Houda, who has served as the “eye in the sky” ever since head coach Claude Julien took over, will move behind the bench to replace the departed Craig Ramsay this season.

Ramsay left to become head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers. Houda was behind the bench for his first season with the Bruins, in 2006-07 under Dave Lewis.

As for a replacement on the staff for Ramsay, Chiarelli said there’s no reason to expedite the process.

“I’ve already met with Claude,” said the GM. “We’re putting a list together and we’ve got a thick file full of names that have already come in and we’ll look at them. We’re in no hurry on that front. We’ve got two guys right in Ward and Houda who are very good.”
