Wheeler hearing probable
The agent for Bruins forward Blake Wheeler confirmed this morning he is in Toronto for his client’s arbitration hearing.
“I think there will be a hearing,” Matt Keator wrote The Bruins Blog at around 9:30 this morning.
The Bruins and Keator were scheduled to talk over the weekend. Keator did not comment on those talks.
Clarke MacArthur, 16G, 19A = $2.4M arbitration award
Blake Wheeler, 18G, 20A… I figure he would be at least if not more.
Perron signed for a steal.
Because they arbitration amounts are not arbitrary.
The two sides come in with a number and the arbitrator determines which is fair, or more fair.
If Wheelers camp comes in a2.7 million and the bruins come in a 1 million, he is going to get 2.7 million.
I just wish I knew what each camp was wanting.
If I were Boston I try 2 million even and Wheeler should be looking at 2.5 to 2.7.
Either way, terrible year to be getting a raise.
How could Wheeler get awarded more then Perron?
I have this feeling that we’re going to see him get a 1year, $2.7m award from the arbitrator… At that price, I’d rather the B’s walk and see a young gun come up and prove his mettle.
We should keep Wheeler…..there are other options for cap relief. He’s young and has had 2 decent seasons for a young guy. Yeah, he needs to get better in a lot of areas but I think we should keep him
sign and trade to phoenix.
I just hope that the arbiter’s ruling is something the Bruins can live with. Bigger guys often take a bit longer to develop and I sense that the best of Blake Wheeler is yet to come.
In my mind, there is no way that will happen….otherwise they would have already dealt him. The B’s plan on making a deal prior to the hearing or accepting the arbitrators decision.
Yes, UFA with no compensation.

Hey Matt:
If the Bruins do not like the decision and decide to “walk away”, does not Wheeler become a UFA and the Bs get no compensation if he signs elsewhere? I would hate to lose him for nothing.
