Chicago-based agent Scott Norton announced via Twitter today that defenseman Ryan Donald has signed a deal with the Bruins’ Providence (AHL) farm club.
Donald, 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, was an invitee at this summer’s development camp and impressed with his strength and his mobility relative to his size. He projects as a solid stay-home defenseman. He also took some people’s breath away with a fancy between-the-legs move during a shootout.
The 23-year-old Donald was the captain at Yale and started his pro career on a PTO with Springfield last spring.
Earlier this month, the P-Bruins announced they re-signed veteran forward Kirk MacDonald, who posted 14-8-22 totals in 64 games last season in the Ocean State. So Providence is filling in some solid talent to go along with the throngs of prospects Boston will be sending down this fall.
