Seguin/By S. Bradley
It looks like the inevitable has become the reality.
The Bruins have signed No. 2 overall pick Tyler Seguin.
Although the team has yet to announce the contract officially The team made it official arounnd 4 p.m., after ESPN Boston and Boston.com both reported the sides agreed to a standard three-year entry-level contract for the base maximum of $900,000 with performance bonuses that could bring the total annual salary to $3.75 million. The Globe has since updated that cap hit to $3.65 million, while CapGeek.com still has the $3.75 million number.
This deal would match penny for penny what No. 1 overall pick Taylor Hall got from the Edmonton Oilers earlier this summer. It’s no surprise that both players would earn the same contract, considering how close they both were in terms of the No. 1 pick heading into the draft and the equal expectation that both players will make an impact in the NHL next season.
With the way the CBA is, there was no doubt Boston was going to be able to get this deal done because the bonuses are the only really negotiable point when you’re talking about such a prized draft pick.
For those panicking about the $3.75 million cap hit, remember that there is a 7.5-percent bonus buffer that applies the bonuses to the 2011-12 cap until Seguin meets them. So Boston will get some relief there.

IcedAdam n AnthonyA
ok I get it now you guys are Toronto Fans lol
IceAdam so funny, haha. nice choice on were to place your sarcasm. brutal.
Kevin,
My post is over-the-top blatant sarcasm… but thanks for playing along.
IcedAdam your an idot what is Seguin if he is not a top Prospect?
i can’t believe you guys ,Seguin is a great young player the best one we have had in sometime better then Thorton .Good for Charelli getting him signed sends the right message. We need some new blood and this kid has tons of talent .But lets remember he’s only 18 and he needs time to adjust to the pro game .Don’t turn him into the second comming of Bobby Orr but he will help the team and put some pressure on some of the forwards we have now who are just collecting a paycheck.Go Bruins
The kid will be okay. relax. we still have a team to deal with. it’s the team that matters. compete level. the will to win. If our players bring that to the table. the bruins will fare very well. It’s not even fall. Come on. can we get a lets go bruins at all around here?
the segzy era has begun, at least on wing anyway.
So I guess this means that the trade market is really staring to dry up if Charelli is now signing Seguin.

Terrible signing… Chiarelli should be fired, and Julien too! Typical Jacobs-Chia putting millions of dollars to these bum players who can put the skates on their correct feet while letting star players and prospects walk.
The Bruins should just pack it in and call it a season today. Good grief…
