Smith
Agent Ben Hankinson announced via his Twitter feed that the Bruins have signed his client, Wyatt Smith, to make up for the injury to veteran center Trent Whitfield.
The 33-year-old Smith is a veteran of more than 200 NHL games and 550 AHL games.
Smith fills the opening that occurred when Whitfield suffered an Achilles injury during offseason workouts last month. Smith was captain of Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre last season and would be a candidate for the same position with Providence this season along with Jeremy Reich.

Oh Karl, you’re such a nihilist =D
meh.

Whitfield tore his achilles, not his ACL.
Good depth signing by Providence. The lack of veteran presence on such a young team was very worrisome after Whitfield went out.
