Neely wants vets to worry about what they can control
BOLTON, Mass. — Before hitting the links for the Bruins’ annual charity golf tournament, team president Cam Neely had this to say about Marc Savard, Tim Thomas and any other Bruins player who’s scheduled to report to training camp after hearing his name in trade rumors over the summer.
“Speaking as a former player, you can’t worry about what’s out of your control. I mean, the way I looked at it when I was a player, you hear about rumors and things that you can’t really control, you can’t worry about it. The only thing you can worry about are the things you can control, whether it’s in sports or in general. And that’s how I approached it as a player and that’s howI would think most players would approach it. It’s always difficult when you’re hearing your name mentioned in ways you don’t want it to be mentioned, but things you can’t control you shouldn’t worry too much about.”
Ryder had better take that approach. With more influence from Neely, players like Ryder (me first, low effort, no defense) are going to be dumped out on Causeway Street
After reading the article about Ryder….it seems he has already taken that approach and didnt need to hear it from Cam.
I think most veterans take that approach even if they are “hurt” a little bit.
Simple and true. Just the reason he is the right man for the Bruins! Naming my first son Cam!
Amen. Play 100% and shutup
