BOSTON — After he didn’t participate in the Bruins’ Black and White scrimmage Monday, goaltender Tim Thomas didn’t practice today.
Thomas practiced before the scrimmage Monday and had been on the ice every day since camp opened Saturday, as he continues to work his way back from offseason hip surgery.
“He’s going to practice with us tomorrow again,” said Julien. “He’s going to be on the road trip with us. So it’s no more than just part of the process of giving him a little bit of rest between the workouts. Because again, that’s the only way he can heal properly.”
The Bruins’ road trip features their first two exhibition games against Montreal (Wednesday at Bell Centre) and Florida (at Rochester Thursday). Thomas isn’t likely to play in either contest.
“He could. But he might be held out a little bit, and it could be more like Saturday instead of these first two games,” said Julien, referring to Saturday’s home game with the Panthers. “More than likely, that would be the earliest you would see Timmy playing.”
