Cool new threads for P-Bruins for opening weekend
The Providence Bruins will be part of a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the American Hockey League this weekend.
Providence will wear throwback Providence Reds jerseys in a two-game set against Springfield Friday and Saturday. The P-Bruins will host the Falcons in the Friday night game, which is also the season-opener for both clubs.
While the Providence Bruins are only in their 19th season, the Providence Reds were part of the original AHL and served as a farm club for Boston for many years before changing affiliations a few times through the 70s. The ‘Kraut Line’ of Milt Schmidt, Woody Dumart and Bobby Bauer played for the Reds at one point, as did ‘Mr. Zero’ Frankie Brimsek.
The P-Bruins will auction off the jerseys on their Web site starting Monday.

The Falcons are doing a pretty cool, retro Indians sweater too.

I sent an them email to see if you’d be able to purchase it at the game and they said that they didn’t have the license to retail them. Is this the same with the Reds? It’s a shame as it would be a great revenue generator.
