Savard/By S. Bradley
That fight among forwards I wrote about the other night in relation to the competition to stay in the lineup when Marc Savard returns seems to be closer to an end than we knew.
Tonight, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli has confirmed to numerous outlets that Savard recently passed his exertion test and began skating on his own — including early this morning.
While the club is obviously going to take its time with Savard to avoid another reoccurrence of post-concussion syndrome, the star center is seemingly closer to a return today than he was even 10 days ago.
The Bruins season, and the battle between forwards for playing time, continues Tuesday night in Washington against the Capitals.

It’s good to see him skating again, but it sounds like he still has some real challenges ahead. I don’t doubt he will overcome them and I look forward to seeing him play again when he’s ready.
jan/feb is fine by me.
I think it would be shocking to see Savard in uniform before the new year. I am hoping for early-mid February
stain, savard is on IR, can’t come back until after game 10 at earliest (game 11 is nov 6 vs st louis, at the garden)
that said, i agree to take the necessary time. the concussion doesnt seem as bed as bergeron’s, but coming back too soon last playoffs may have hurt him in the long term, like pat lafontaine’s recurring symptoms. bergy did it right and is probably at less risk to have those type of recurring symptoms (although its no garuntee). i worry about savard in this respect
I totally agree about Bergeron. He is starting to get to the level he was at before the hit finally. I wouldnt want to see Savard come back too early and then be mediocre, especially since our top three lines are clicking quite well as it is.
As far as I know, Savy did not go on LTIR.
If he did not, I imagine he will be back in the lineup sooner rather than later. Hopefully he will be healthy!
They would be well served to tread lightly here. He was rushed back, largely his own fault, and that should not happen again. Seems like they can survive without him and then get him back, MAYBE, after the new year. That would be quite a boost
Just remember how long it took Bergeron to look remotely normal. I suggest it took well over a year.
