BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk was slashed on the hand by Brandon Dubinsky of the New York Rangers tonight and didn’t play again after the first period.
Boychuk drew the penalty at 5:34 of the first period and returned to action for a couple shifts three minutes or so of game time later. When the team took the ice for the second period, however, Boychuk didn’t join his teammates.
Head coach Claude Julien said there should be an update on Boychuk Sunday.
•In other injury news, Gregory Campbell blocked a Dan Girardi shot with the back of his head in the first period. He didn’t come back until the second period, but made it through the rest of the game. Campbell, who suffered a concussion in 2006, said he passed a couple of verbal tests before returning to action, and had to get a couple stitches to patch up his head.
