It was a great month of October for Bruins prospect Craig Cunningham.
Still atop the Western Hockey League’s scoring race, Cunningham has tallied 36 points (7 goals) in 18 games for the Vancouver Giants. For his efforts, he was named the WHL Player of the Month for Sept./Oct.
The Giants have ridden Cunningham’s hot hand to a 10-6-1 record and first place in the B.C. Division.
The 20-year-old, a fourth-round pick of the Bruins last June, continues to be a remarkable story considering what he’s been through during his life and development into a potential pro hockey player. Back in July, I detailed Cunningham’s plight during the Bruins’ development camp.
