P-Bruins to chill out with CT Whale in February
If you think the Providence Bruins are ice cold right now with their 2-5-1-1 record and three-game losing streak, just wait until Feb. 19.
That day the P-Bruins will meet the Connecticut Whale (aka the Hartford Wolf Pack until Nov. 27) at Rentschler Field in East Hartford in the second outdoor AHL game ever. It’s not exactly the Winter Classic at Fenway Park, but it’s a historic event nonetheless.
Last season, Syracuse and Binghamton met at the New York State Fairgrounds and set an AHL single-game attendance record with 21,508 patrons in attendance.
The game, which will start at 7 p.m. that night, will be the marquee event during Whalers Hockey Fest 2011. There will also be high school, prep and college games played on the rink, as well as a battle of Hartford Whalers and Boston Bruins alumni over the time period from Feb. 11-20.
The Boston Bruins are off that night, so fans will have no excuse for not heading down to support the future stars of the organization as they try to withstand the cold and “The Whale.”
Greg is right, more or less…..I have season tickets to Providence. They are awful this year….we never seeem to sign the better quality AHL guys…always, stiffs…..Peter….I mean Nolan Schaefer sucks in net. No punch no skill with the puck. Hamill is a bust…..Colborne needs some one to set up for. You need better guys here to send up in case of injuries…or haven’t they figured that out yet?
Providence has very little in defense and they have NO GOALIE!
Pray to all that is holy that we stay healthy in Boston.
I’m not kidding, they play with 6 forwards and go with an empty net the whole game.
At least it seems that way.
Question: Does the slow learning curve to adapt to Julien’s defense first system account for Providence’s slow start? particularly with the defensemen??
