BOSTON — Bruins head coach Claude Julien did not have an update on the condition of center David Krejci immediately after his team’s 2-1 shootout loss to St. Louis at TD Garden.
All Julien revealed was that Krejci was being evaluated at TD Garden.
“He got rattled, he got his bell rung there and we don’t know what the severity is of it right now,” said the coach.
Krejci was helped off the ice by teammates Andrew Ference and Zdeno Chara 44 seconds into the overtime after a collision with St. Louis forward T.J. Oshie near the red line.
Krejci seemed to suffer the worst of the hit when his head hit the dasher. He was bleeding after the play.
“It was two guys going at the puck,” Oshie said after the game. “I tried to get low and get a good center of gravity. It looked like he was coming to hit me as well. It was a hard battled tonight. It was a physical game. I certainly hope that he’s OK and he’ll be right back.”
When asked if he thought it was a clean hit, Oshie said:
“I think so. I haven’t seen the replay but I felt my elbow wasn’t up. We were both going full speed at the puck. It was either going to go one way or the other.”
The Bruins are off Sunday and will return to practice Sunday.
Krejci had an active night against the Blues with five shots on goal in 20:32 of ice time.
