Chiarelli expands on Krejci’s plight

Krejci
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli clarified that David Krejci suffered a moderate concussion Saturday night against St. Louis.
The GM said that instead of numbers, doctors now use mild, moderate and severe to grade concussions. Krejci never lost consciousness and has felt better both yesterday and today.
The initial symptoms were headache and slight amnesia. As far as Chiarelli knows, there were no additional injuries (i.e. neck, nose) suffered as a result of the hit with T.J. Oshie and the subsequent collision between Krejci’s head and the boards.
“He’s be re-evaluated [Tuesday],” said Chiarelli. “As far as time frame goes, I don’t know. All indications are, one, it being a moderate concussion, two, the ways he’s feeling in the first two or three days following a concussion — those most critical in gauging a prognosis — he’s been good in that time period.”
Chiraelli also said that Krejci might have his next baseline test later in the week.
“It was a coincidental hit, an incidental hit,” said Chiarelli. “David put himself in that position, Oshie was there, David wanted to hit him at that point. It was just one of those things. I have no problem with the hit.”
Agreed… the hit was clean in my opinion. Nevertheless, we’ve recently seen several hits of similar/lesser consequence that drew suspension for an alleged “hit to the head”. All I’m saying is that there needs to be more consistency from the officials/NHL (I understand it’s a touch-and-go situation right now w/ these hits). Krejci’s injury was an unfortunate but an incidental one that shouldn’t draw any further punitive action. Let’s just hope he’s OK and gets back soon.
Guess I wanst the only person to notice the play of Oshie. The Blues looked very good, they us on our heels most of the night.
I think this was a good test for our boys. I hope the coaches were able to identify some of our weaknesses and work on them through practices.
I would like to see a stronger forcheck, better passing in our own zone and through the neutral zone….and face offs, face offs, face offs!
Never knew who Oshie was before that game. I thought he was massive. I’ll take both he and Backes any chance we get!
Great hit! I love the hustle by Krecji – kid is an all out gamer, but Dude! Oshie is a big guy… you gotta be smarter than run full speed into a moving wall.
Same here, that was really the first time that I’ve seen oshie play, he seems good
Chia Pete: “…I have no problem with the hit.”
Nobody should have any problems with the hit, and might I add that I was really impressed with Oshie’s play on Saturday night.
