WILMINGTON, Mass. — It showed a decent amount of maturity that after skating just two shifts in the third period Saturday, rookie Tyler Seguin popped off the bench to score the Bruins’ lone goal in the shootout.
Today Seguin discussed that situation after practice at Ristuccia Arena:
Head coach Claude Julien has gone out of his way to state that Seguin wasn’t benched, and pointed out that Jordan Caron and Shawn Thornton also had their ice time cut down while the Bruins were trying to overcome a one-goal lead.
“I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it more than it was just me shortening my bench and going with some experience,” the coach said. “It’s certainly not a knock against our young players because they’ve been too good since the start of the season, they’ve given us too much, this is certainly not a knock against them.”
