Boychuk on the verge of return; Krejci progressing

BOSTON — Johnny Boychuk was bag skated this morning at TD Garden and he took the warm-up with the Bruins before their 3-0 win over New Jersey tonight.

So the veteran defenseman has taken the necessary steps to be deemed “day-to-day” by head coach Claude Julien. The bench boss said that Boychuk, who has been out for almost a month with a fractured arm, could be back in the lineup as soon as Wednesday against the New York Rangers — the team Boychuk suffered the injury against after a slash by Brandon Dubinsky.

•As for center David Krejci, there was no update on the results of his afternoon test as of the postgame media briefing. But Julien said the center would keep practicing with the team and the decision to return to action would be about 50-50 between Krejci and the medical staff.
