Campbell mess could continue to hurt Bruins
Beyond Chiarelli, president Cam Neely and owner Jeremy Jacobs should be working the phones and maybe even asking for a meeting with the commissioner to make sure the league is looking for a solution to this problem. If Campbell won’t resign, then he can’t be the be-all end-all as far as discipline and he can’t have so much interaction with the on-ice officials, directly or through an intermediary.
Really, this is a league-wide problem. Another team might someday acquire Gregory Campbell. Or maybe there’ll be another son of another NHL higher-up to come along. But in the here and now, this is a Bruins’ problem and the brass has to nip it in the bud before it costs the club on the ice.

My take on this issue is that Campbell should be held to a higher standard than, say, your average office worker. If I fired off an email like his, it’d be flagged and I’d be reprimanded. I understand his emails were more personal in nature, and supposedly there were some attempts at ‘humor’, but Campbell comes across as sophomoric and uneducated. Apparently the NHL is a-ok with that. As a fan, it leaves a bitter taste and a ton of uncertainty. The fact that the good ol’ boys are rallying behind him is a testament to the truly dysfunctional nature of this league. It also makes me question the integrity of this game in general. I understand that sports are basically entertainment, but I don’t think a level playing field is too much to ask for as a fan. Apparently, the good ol’ boys really don’t care about that, and that is the problem here.
does colin have j edgar hoover pictures of bettman wearing a boa?
BK: “…there is no room for controversy in the nhl’s front office right now.”
Why? What’s different now, from any other time in recent history? Face it, the sport we all love is run by a group of baffoons.
Bob McKenzie had a great peice about this yesterday: http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/bob_mckenzie/?id=341501

Imagine if you wre Marc Savard. You are trying to come back from a serious head injury and the man resposible for league disipline has a public bias towards you.
Colin Campbell has made any number of curious descions. Now, one can only wonder how they were arrived at. Time for this guy to go!!
Get ready for a joke
it would be a joke if the nhl does not dismiss Colin Campbell, there is no room for controversy in the nhl’s front office right now.
