Final score: Bruins 3, NY Rangers 2

Thomas/By S. Bradley

For the second time this season, the Bruins and New York Rangers played a one-goal game, which is the norm when the last two teams have met the last few years.

However, unlike last month’s match-up, the Bruins prevailed down at Madison Square Garden — Boston’s first win in that barn since January 2008.

Here’s a quick glance at the box score:

•Tim Thomas finished with 34 saves, including 15 on 16 shots in the third period. He was the leader of Boston’s successful kill of a 5-on-3 that lasted 1:45 in that final stanza.

•Milan Lucic, Mark Recchi and Tyler Seguin scored Boston’s goals, with Recchi’s going down as the game-winner.

•Patrice Bergeron won just 47 percent of his draws, but he took 30 of the 50 faceoffs in the game so you can forgive him for wearing down a bit.
