Quotable: Boychuk admits he was a little rusty in return

BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk returned to active duty tonight after a 10-game absence due to a broken forearm.

He logged 18:20 of ice time, including 1:11 of power-play time, and registered three shots on net. But he recorded just one hit, and that didn’t come until the third period of Boston’s 4-0 win at TD Garden against Florida winger David Booth.

“The first couple shifts were a little bit nerve-wracking, but I just wanted to keep it simple and I guess, well not the first shift because they carried the puck all the way up,” he said. “I felt good, but a little bit rusty. I’ve just got to get used to playing again. It was a good game for me to get back in it.”

As far as any pain, Boychuk said he was fine.

“No, nothing at all. It’s my right hand so it was fine when I pushed the guy,” he said. “My left hand is already strong enough as it is right now, so it didn’t really matter.”
