Where’s the All-Star love for Thomas, Boston?

Boston fans are by all accounts intelligent and tech savvy.

So why in the heck is Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas being beaten by not one, but two, goaltenders whose names aren’t even on the 2010 NHL digital All-Star ballot?

As of today, after one week of voting, Carey Price of Montreal is the leading vote-getter at his position with 71,199 — all write-ins. Fellow ballot exclusion Sergei Bobrovsky of Philadelphia is second at the position with 58,101, while Thomas — the league-leader in goals-against average and save percentage — is on the ballot but ranks third with 47,646.

Maybe after going through a special U.S. Senate election last January and then the full slate of regular elections earlier this month, Bostonians are tired of elections. But this one’s important people. You don’t want to leave it up to chance to get Thomas to the game in Raleigh in last January. Remember, Thomas’ previous two All-Star appearances were as a reserve, including once as an injury replacement who wasn’t even part of the initial batch of reserves.

If it’s not bad enough that Thomas is in third, the fact that the goaltenders from Boston’s two most-hated rivals right now are running one and two should be enough to get you to log on to NHL.com and start firing away on the All-Star ballot page. What else do you have to do this holiday week?

As for other positions, Zdeno Chara is 10th among defensemen (41,081 votes). There are now Bruins is the top 25 at forward.
