BOSTON — When the highlight of your game is one of your oldest and best players receiving a video tribute during the early moments of the first period, you know you’re in for a long day.

That the Bruins dropped a 3-0 stinker to Carolina today at TD Garden did nothing to dull the enthusiasm the Boston fans showed for Recchi, who was honored during a timeout with a video on the Jumbotron and then a standing ovation from the crowd for reaching the 1,500-point plateau Wednesday night in Florida.

Recchi finished the night with one shot on goal in 15:42 of ice time.
