A different kind of practice and Savard getting closer

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Bruins didn’t suit up any forward lines today during practice at Ristuccia Arena.

Instead, the forwards were split into three groups, the team was divided up into two groups and the club focused on the fundamentals, which have been lacking for a few weeks now.

Returning injured forwards Marco Sturm and Marc Savard joined the team, while rookie Jamie Arniel (reassigned to Providence) did not. David Krejci and Jordan Caron both returned from their bouts with the flu.

After practice, Savard said his return to action could be “around the corner.” When asked about a potential return Wednesday for the Bruins’ next game, he said “I don’t think so.” Ultimately, the center said, the decision will be made by head coach Claude Julien, who did not attend practice today in order to attend Pat Burns’ funeral.

As for how he feels, Savard said he’s 100 percent and “I feel 100 percent better than I did at all last year,” referring to the other injuries he suffered in addition to his concussion.
