After three years and 25-53-78 totals in 118 games with Boston University, Colby Cohen decided to turn pro this year. The 2007 second-round draft pick of Colorado is now property of the Bruins after the one-for-one with Matt Hunwick this evening.

Here’s part of what the McKeen’s Hockey Pool Yearbook had to say prior to this season about the 6-foot-3, 210-pound, right-shooting Cohen:

“Pennsylvania native made important gains in his overall play last season while firing a career-best 14 goals including a team-high five game-winners … big, rangy hard-firing blueliner … poised and understated … can appear stiff and not overly quick — and also has some awkward moments … otherwise he is smooth and agile with deceiving range thanks to a long, languid stride … big weapon is a powerful slap shot and an ability to deliver the goods on target — very accurate shooter … angles opponents to the wall and will finish with a good hard takeout from time to time, exploiting a well-constructed frame and impressive hitting strength.”
