Throughout his Hall-of-Fame career, Mark Recchi and the teams he has skated for have had much better weeks that what he and the Bruins endured last week.
However, Recchi starred in Boston’s one victory and made a little history in the process. For his efforts, Recchi was voted the Bruin of the Week by the readers of TheBruinsBlog.net.
Recchi scored twice in the 3-1 comeback win at Florida last Wednesday. His second goal was also his 1,500th point of his NHL career — making him the 13th player ever to reach that milestone. Even better, it was scored doing what Recchi has always done best for more than 20 years — battling in front of the net.
Boston lost its other three games during the week, and Recchi was point-less and a minus-1 total for those contests. But nothing can take away the major accomplishment he achieved in Sunrise, Fla.
