Thomas/By S. Bradley

Had he not enjoyed a fantastic 2-0-1 week between the pipes, Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas might’ve still been voted as the Bruin of the Week by readers of

Thomas’ save on Francois Beauchemin of Toronto in overtime of Saturday night’s shootout loss to the Leafs was just that great.

Here’s another look at it:

That highlight-reel goal completed a highlight-reel week, even if it came in eventual defeat. Thomas was brilliant all week, with 116 saves on 119 shots. He shut out Philadelphia on 41 saves and made sure Boston’s offensive eruption against Tampa Bay was never challenged by the Lightning. The 2008-09 Vezina Trophy winner is obviously the front-runner for this year’s award, as he leads the league in goals-against average (1.46), save percentage (.956) and shutouts (5).

For his efforts, Thomas is this week’s Sully’s Bruin of the Week.
