When the Bruins signed Yannick Riendeau as an undrafted free agent after the 2008-09 season, they didn’t expect him to score at the clip that saw him finish that season with 58 goals and 126 points in the QMJHL.

However, they expected he’d be able to do a lot more than he has so far in his minor-league career. Injuries, of course, have taken their toll. But Riendeau has also struggled adapting his game to the pro level. This weekend, he finally showed some signs of life.

Riendeau scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for Boston’s ECHL affiliate Reading Saturday and then added a second goal Sunday in another victory. Riendeau had scored one goal in his previous six games for the Royals. He now has 3-2-5 totals for the season.

The Royals are in second place, one point behind Elmira in the Atlantic Division.
