Kampfer comes up to save the day
Well, not quite. But if defenseman Mark Stuart is going to be out for any length of time, rookie defenseman Steve Kampfer has been summoned on an emergency basis from Providence (AHL).
Kampfer practiced with the Bruins today at Ristuccia Arena. All 14 forwards, including Marco Sturm, hit the ice with six defensemen and two goaltenders.
More later.
Yes, that was Kampfer with the “C” and he has looked really good down here in Providence. BArtkowski, not impressed yet but hopeful. Alexandrov, has flashes of potential on offense but then does stupid things in the defensive zone too…..Trade Sturm for a #6 or 7 D-man.

Was Kampfer the one that garnered the rookie camp “C”? I think he was. He looked good in pre-season.
It hurts if Stu is out. Arguably their second best defender right now
Good point Anthony – Bartkowski and Kampfer could very well turn out to be Lashoff and Hunwick 2.0. I liked Bartkowski a bit better from what I saw in pre-season, but an injection in mobility from any source can’t hurt the current squad.
I have been a big Kampfer supporter since I saw him play with Providence last year against the Portland Pirates. Very smooth skater, makes a great first pass. A bit small, but looks pretty sturdy on his skates for his size. But many of these things could be said about Hunwick, so he will have an uphill battle.
