BOSTON — Some nine days after published reports had the Bruins trading Marco Sturm to Los Angeles for a conditional draft pick Boston finally dealt the recovering winger to the Kings.
But instead of a draft pick, the Bruins got nothing.
General manager Peter Chiarelli admitted this evening that the future considerations Boston got in return for one of their leading goal-scorers is “nothing.”
Chiarelli said it was difficult to trade Sturm, who not only has been a solid player but an excellent person. Chiarelli was once one of Sturm’s agents.
Sturm is still about five to seven days from playing, and Chiarelli admitted that his lack of game-readiness was what held up the deal to the Kings last week after Sturm waived his no-trade clause.
The Bruins are now “cap compliant.”

Wow, hope Marco doesn’t take it personally. Just goes to show how impossible it’s become to make a deal in NHL due to the cap. Marco will do very well in LA and is exactly the type of player they need right now. Kopitar, Brown, and Williams will be pleased.
Even if we got nothing in the deal, we did right to a player who’s been a good soldier for us. Good luck Sturm!
