Poll: Bruin of the Week
The Bruins came within one goal of a perfect week and a perfect homestand.
However, Mike Richards and Philadelphia spoiled that. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t some great performances by individual Bruins in victories and the loss.
Who should be the Bruin of the Week?
- Milan Lucic (42%, 29 Votes)
- Tim Thomas (32%, 22 Votes)
- Nathan Horton (20%, 14 Votes)
- Andrew Ference (6%, 4 Votes)
Total Voters: 69
Tim Thomas continued his pitch to be the Vezina Trophy winner with a 1-0-1 record this week and 59 saves on 63 shots (.937 save percentage). Many of his stops, of course, we of the spectacular variety.
After a brief slump, Nathan Horton has re-emerged as an offensive force — particularly when the chips are down. Horton scored the game-tying goal against Buffalo and Philadelphia. He finished the week with 2-1-3 totals and a plus-2 rating.
If there’s a better power forward in the league right now, he probably wouldn’t get in Milan Lucic’s way. The bulky Boston winger enjoyed another prosperous week with three goals, including two against the New York Islanders, and an assist in three games.
It’s difficult sometimes to quantify what defenseman Andrew Ference is bringing to the Bruins, but the veteran had a solid week playing in all situations, with a dose of power-play time coming his way as reward for his strong efforts. Ference set up what proved to be the game-winning goal by Michael Ryder against the Islanders and was plus-1 on the week while playing solidly in his own zone.

Kyle, I am not with you.
Ference? Really? I’m one of those fans who can’t see past his contract and lack of points…and lack of physicality…and lack of offensive talent…oh and all the turnovers. Come on man, Ference? I’d have put McQuaid, Chara, Seids, Kampfer, Marchand (hello?) before Ference
With all due respect to Looch and Timmy, I’ve got to go with Horton here, simply because his goals were clutch against solidly performing netminders.
Nice nod to Ference. The guy has been very good and gets no respect from some fans who can’t see past his contract and lack of points.
