WILMINGTON, Mass. — The best news for Brad Marchand today was that he was able to remember what happened to him last night.
After that 18-wheeler in a Montreal sweater with Subban on the back ran him over in the first period of the Canadiens’ 4-3 win, Marchand would’ve been forgiven had he suffered from a touch of amnesia or worse.
But after the Bruins held meetings and off-ice workouts today, Boston’s rookie winger said he just had the wind knocked out of him by the P.K. Subban hit, which beat out the Johnny Boychuk hit on Benoit Pouliot as the best hit of the game in a TheBruinsBlog.net poll. Marchand returned to the game and skated a total of 11 shifts on the night.
“I saw him last second,” said Marchand. “I wasn’t really expecting him to step up. … I think I started around center ice, wheeled around behind our net. I had a lot of speed, but I think that only made it worse.”
Here’s how the poll ended:
Which was the best hit in the Bruins-Canadiens game?
- PK Subban on Brad Marchand (71%, 25 Votes)
- Johnny Boychuk on Benoit Pouliot (29%, 10 Votes)
Total Voters: 35
