Wyatt Smith’s stint with the Bruins organization got off to a slow start because of an injury at the outset of training camp and never got on track.
So, according to a report at ProJo.com, the veteran center is leaving the Providence Bruins to skate in the German Elite League.
Smith,33, was signed in late summer to a one-year, two-way deal to make up for the loss to injury of last year’s Providence captain Trent Whitfield. Smith was waived and then assigned to Providence before Boston left for its season-opening European road trip.
But things didn’t work out with the P-Bruins, as he posted a team-worst minus-14 rating in 30 games.
This afternoon, TSN.ca reported Smith cleared waivers which was the last hurdle before he could cross the pond and play in Germany.
