Through the first four games of the Bruins’ longest road trip of the season, they’ve picked up at least one standings point in every contest.
But it doesn’t appear the masses are pleased, despite the club’s 2-0-2 record with one game left on the trip, and its standing as the first-place team in the Northeast Division. That doesn’t tarnish the fact that the Bruins have been getting a lot accomplished and have been enjoying some excellent individual performances — some even worthy of being the Bruin of the Week.
It has been a solid bounce-back year so far for winger Michael Ryder, who somehow failed to hit the score sheet or even fire a shot on goal in the run-and-gun Buffalo game. Nonetheless, he scored against the Sabres in the shootout to cap his 1-2-3 week. He was also plus-2 and fired 12 shots on goal.
Even though Brad Marchand missed the Monday night game at Florida, he still did enough this week to get into the Bruin of the Week discussion. In Tampa Bay, he made his return with a goal and at least two penalties drawn. Then he scored again in Buffalo. He was a plus-3 for the week.
For some, Zdeno Chara’s burning image from this week will be the missed shootout attempt that ended the loss to the Sabres. But otherwise he had a strong week, including one goal and one assist during regulation in Buffalo. He added an assist against the Panthers and posted an even rating for the four games.
After a quiet night against the Panthers, Mark Recchi perked up over the next three games. It all started with the game-winning power-play goal with 20 seconds left in regulation in Tampa, which was his second point of the night. He added two assists against the Sabres and was plus-1 for the week.
So I ask you:
Who should be the Bruin of the Week?
- Brad Marchand (58%, 55 Votes)
- Michael Ryder (19%, 18 Votes)
- Mark Recchi (17%, 16 Votes)
- Zdeno Chara (6%, 7 Votes)
Total Voters: 95

I agree, Wheeler may not have had the stats, but he was one of the best players on the ice at all times. His 12 SOG was 2nd last week and was also a plus-2.
Blake Wheeler. 1 goal, 1 assist in four games. plus-2. Close, but not top 4 for the week.
Wheeler did have a great week. I like him better than most of the people on this week’s ballot.
I think Wheeler had the best week
