WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins defenseman Mark Stuart said today after his first full practice with the team that he thinks he could play in a game.
However, not long after, head coach Claude Julien said in his media briefing that Stuart is not medically cleared and so the decision does not belong with the coaching staff yet.
Stuart has been out since he suffered a hand injury Dec. 7. At the time, he was declared out for four to six weeks.
“I believe it is [OK to play a hockey game],” Stuart said about his hand. “But it’s not up to me, so …”
Stuart wouldn’t project a return. Julien said he wasn’t surprised Stuart was making bold pronouncements.
“That’s Stewie being Stewie,” said the coach.

I think they miss Stuart’s physicality. Seidenberg would benefit from a rest if we had extra guys. Not talking about anything long term, but he has leveled a little bit I think and the difference between him and Stuart is small if not nonexistent in my opinion.
They are fools to sit Kampfer. It has to be McQuaid in the end
Hard to say whether we need him back or not.., Mcquiad (sp?) has been all we could have hoped for since he’s come in. Obviously Kampfer cant go anywhere. Competition is a good thing though.
