Thomas/By S. Bradley
Tim Thomas’ two shutouts over the last week were by a combined score of 13-0 and hardly required him to break a sweat.
So tonight the Bruins made him do most of the work in their 3-2 win at Carolina.
Thomas made 43 saves, including 19 of 19 in the second period, to keep the Hurricanes down long enough for Milan Lucic to score the game-winning goal on the power play with 8:11 remaining in regulation.
Lucic’s goal was his first since he returned to the lineup Monday.
Here’s a look at the rest of the box score:
•Cam Ward bounced back after being pulled by Carolina Monday with 25 saves.
•After some flip flopping by the official scorer, Johnny Boychuk finally received credit for his first goal of the season. Boston’s other goal came off the stick of Brad Marchand.
•Mark Recchi recorded two assists, including the set-up of Lucic’s goal.

Claude Julien has me back on his band wagon. The new lines are working great. Ryder, Savard, and Horton work well together without giving up too much on D. Even though Horton hasn’t scored he’s getting plenty of quality shots on net. I was hoping he would score an empty netter in hopes that would get him going. Bad luck has followed him all year. Hopefully Wheeler tries to mimic Marchand on the energy line. Bergeron’s line is one of the hardest working in the league. And if Seguin gets more confidence and uses his speed that should open up more space for Krecji to work his magic.
Tim Thomas is having a monster year. I just laugh at Mike Felger and his followers who continue to rant that Thomas’ contract is a burden. The guy may very well be the league MVP if the Bruins continue to pllay well. He certainly has been a difference maker for this club.
Chara had a pretty good game too. – just love how he just shrugs off forechecking forwards. Its gotta be tough to play against him. Horton, however, needs to tighten up his play in the D zone.
