Don’t get used to the Southern hospitality, Zdeno Chara.

By Tuesday, the fans in Raleigh will be back to booing you.

The Bruins captain credited the Carolina fans for pumping him up during the Hardest Shot competition tonight at the NHL SuperSkills competition at the 2011 All-Star Weekend.

The event concluded with Chara winning for the fourth time with a new record of 105.9 miles per hour.

Chara’s positive reception from the “Caniacs” was a far cry from what usually greets him on the RBC Center ice every time he and the Bruins visit the Hurricanes. As Public Enemy No. 1 when the Bruins enter almost any visiting arena, Chara gets booed every time he touches the puck in Raleigh. Two weeks ago, he gave the “Caniacs” even more reason to loathe him with his first NHL hat trick in a 7-0 Boston rout of Carolina. Boston will be in Carolina Tuesday night in the first post-All-Star-break game for both clubs.

Nonetheless, for one night Chara was a fan favorite in enemy territory. And he helped Team Staal, captained by Carolina star Eric Staal, defeat Team Lidstrom, 33-22.
