It’s been a historic season so far for Thomas, who will undoubtedly win numerous awards more glorious than this blog’s Bruin of the Week by the time the final puck drops for the Bruins.

Thomas earned this third straight All-Star victory Sunday — a confirmed NHL record — but it has been his play in games that count that has made him a candidate for both the Vezina and Hart Trophies. After stopping 66 of 69 shots (.957 save percentage) last week, he leads the NHL with a .945 season’s save percentage. He is also on top of the league in goals-against average (1.81) and tied for the shutout lead with seven. He is just one off the wins lead.

Thomas escaped that race with Cam Ward unscathed and also held up well in the All-Star Game. The Bruins can breathe a sigh of relief there, because they’re going to count on Thomas even more in the post-All-Star portion of the schedule.
