The All-Star break did little to slow the Bruins’ solid play of late.
Boston enjoyed a 2-1-0 week coming out of the break, including the highly-charged, emotional victory over Dallas Thursday night at TD Garden.
As with any winning week, there were plenty of standout individual performances.
Patrice Bergeron continued to challenge for team MVP honors with three goals last week. He also added one assist and a plus-2 rating over the course of the three games. He won 50.8 percent of his faceoffs.
Bergeron’s linemate almost from the time of his arrival in Boston, Mark Recchi continued to click with the veteran center last week. The future Hall-of-Famer notched four assists and was a plus-1, despite managing just one shot on goal in the three contests.
It seems like every week is a great one for Tim Thomas. Last week only didn’t live up to his lofty standards because he actually lost a game Saturday to San Jose with no offensive support. But he stopped 40 of 43 shots for a .930 save percentage.
While mostly unheralded, Adam McQuaid was a major factor for the Bruins. Last week, he was an imposing force with two fights — including a pummeling of Dallas’ Brian Sutherby. In the same game, he drew a big penalty in the third period. McQuaid was plus-3 with six hits and three blocked shots, and he continued to prevent Boston from re-inserting Mark Stuart in the lineup.
So I ask my readers this:
