Bruins’ call-up of Caron kicks competition into high gear

Caron/By S. Bradley
Will teeny-boppers that attend Bruins games at TD Garden just to catch a glance at matinee idol Tyler Seguin need to start wrenching their necks to soak in the sight of their dream boy?
The likelihood that Seguin will be a press-box visitor during upcoming games increased tonight with Boston’s recall of Jordan Caron from the Providence (AHL) farm club. Even with Daniel Paille still out on suspension, the Bruins now have 13 available forwards. It would stand to reason that if Boston wants to leave Zach Hamill in the lineup, Seguin would be candidate No. 1 for some healthy scratches.
Slumping Blake Wheeler and tough guy Shawn Thornton would also be candidates. But too often this season the Bruins have needed Thornton’s hands to take care of the dirty work and score timely goals. And despite his scoring struggles (no goals in 11 games), Wheeler is a key component in Boston’s successful penalty kill. Of course, Caron was a prime PK performer when he started the regular season with Boston.
Seguin has scored one goal in his last 11 games and has skated 10:05 or less of ice time in six of his last eight games.
Whatever head coach Claude Julien decides is sure to raise some eyebrows. But for now, at least we know complacency will not be visiting the Bruins’ practice ice.
why sit seguin whats the upside .whats the point mark
Scratch Seguin = correct move. Calling up Caron immediately after the Savard presser made it obvious.
As much as I don’t want to see it, Seguin will get scratched. Just by looking at the practice lines, Claude won’t sit a vet (and pet) in Ryder and Wheeler most likely won’t ride the pine either. Seguin could benefit from a stint up top.
I’ve gotta agree with Karl. Definitely give someone a night of if they are the worst of the 12 who played the previous night, unless of course you get a great effort from those 12.
I am with Greg here too. If you are going to sit someone, pleaseeee, sit Ryder.
Please.
Sit seguin wtf how about some other players who just dont perform and have 0 upside like ryder

Maybe a tactical decision by the Claude to insert some more speed into the line up agaisnt the smurfs? This’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.
competition is a good thing. crappiest forward from the game before should be the healthy scratch.
Yeah, I have no problem with Seguin sitting for a few games and having a look from up top. I’m anticipating a trade, too. Can’t wait actually. I just hope PC comes through. Fisher sounds good to me.
You can’t sit Thornton, he’s played too well and him and Campbell provide serious energy, especially when the rest of the team is playing poorly. You need that competitve drive in the line up. I think Seguin could afford to watch the game for a couple nights to see if Caron can show the skill he had last time he was up here.
Sniff Sniff… I smell a trade
