Savard
The Bruins have scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference with general manager Peter Chiarelli, center Marc Savard and team physician Dr. Peter Asnis. I doubt they’re all getting together to announce Savard’s new line of sticks.
It was widely reported Sunday that the Bruins have made the decision to shut down the concussed star for the remainder of this season.

The goal every year is to win the cup. This team, as presently cosntructed, I do not think can do it. I don’t think they are a role player away from being a serious cup contender. I think Philly and Montreal will smoke them in the playoffs.
They desperately need another elite defenseman and someone else who can score goals that doesn’t dance around the ice like Ryder.
I would think the Bruins would bring in a character forward for a rental, but who would they ship away? Stuart would be a logical choice, but you want 7 defensemen on the roster heading down the stretch because one of them is going to get hurt.
None of the forwards that the Bruins could trade will bring in two in return, let alone an upgrade on what they already have.
I agree with Zach. The Bruins have played well enough without Savard, so I would hate to see any high level prospects sent away for a rental. Yeah, Savard was starting to pick up his game again but I think the organization is in a very good spot to improve itself over the next few years with both the draft picks it has and its farm system.
good night sweet prince and flights of angels shall sing thee to thy rest.
too much pressure and cap space for chia not to make a deal before the trade deadline. also, i wouldn’t be shocked if savvy becomes a black ace.
Great point Zach, I think Chia feels the same way as you do and won’t give up too much in the way the future unless he feels that it will make our chances at a cup really, really good. That said, I don’t see what he can give up to give us a really really good chance at the cup. I do think we have a shot at it, but are a year or two away from that really really good chance.
why be shopping.. this is obviously going to be a long term problem so why should we go and get rid of long term solutions for a rental player.. doesnt make sense to me.. i love the bruins and see them competing in the playoffs but bringing in one rental center is not going to make a huge difference in this team.. please dont get rid of all our up and comers
Too bad. I worry about the rest of his career.
With that out of the way, Chia should be shopping bigtime
