Bergeron, who was scheduled for unrestricted free agency this July, re-signed with Boston for three years and $15 million last fall. Some questioned whether the move was wise based on Bergeron’s recent production. After all, he had produced just 39 and 52 points, respectively, over the last two seasons.

Well, last week Bergeron popped in three goals and one assist to maintain his grasp on the team scoring lead with 44 points. Still playing in the midst of the last year of his previous contract, Bergeron’s second on the club with 19 goals and is on pace to register 68 points over the course of an 82-game season.

All the while, he has maintained his high level of play at the defensive end and continues to be a shutdown center that wins the majority of his faceoffs.

When it comes to Bergeron, it looks like the Bruins will be getting plenty of bang for their buck.
