BOSTON — Instead of crying over their breakfasts all morning after last night’s 6-1 shellacking by Detroit, the Bruins hit the Ristuccia Arena ice for practice today.
Mark Recchi took the morning off probably for maintenance for a personal reason, according to head coach Claude Julien.
Daniel Paille and Zach Hamill both skated in gold sweaters alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, with Hamill taking some shifts on the wing. Tyler Seguin skated with Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder as the center. The other two lines stayed the same.
All seven defensemen and the two goaltenders skated, with Tuukka Rask reverting to his old mask.
One drill was full-ice 1-on-1s. An interesting match-up was Adam McQuaid vs. Johnny Boychuk, two players battling to be regulars in the Boston top four.

bummer. i liked tuukka’s new mask.

Hello SegNasty????
So Hamill will sit tonight and Segz will be back in?
Hey Matt – I’d love to hear if CJ has concerns over Recchi’s stamina to handle every game of the season, especially now that he’s on the point for the PP and speedy wingers/SH goals are a concern. Also not sure why he’d be out there in 4-on-4 situations, where speed is a factor. Any thoughts? Thought I’d ask seeing Recchi has been given a maintenance day and perhaps it’s as good a time as any to ask these questions when going for your update.
