I’ve heard guys sound excited to be traded to the Bruins, but new pick-up Boris Valabik might be taking enthusiasm to new heights.
Here’s what Valabik had to say to AJC writer Chris Vivlamore after the Bruins and Atlanta made their 2-for-2 trade today:
“Boston is a dream come true as far as an organization and a style of play. I’m thankful for another chance and I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. … I was thinking if I get traded, I’ll be the luckiest guy in the world. Now it’s up to me and not anybody else.”
A dream come true? I wonder what he thinks of going to Providence. I wonder if he forgives Zdeno Chara for that beatdown the Bruins captain delivered a couple years ago. I wonder if he knows he’s joining a P-Bruins team that’s headed toward a playoff-less spring.
Anyway, glad to hear he’s excited to join the Bruins organization.

He’s exactly the type of D-man the Bruins are lacking in their system. Watch a Providence Bruins game and you’ll see they need that big physical player all the current prospects on D are small skating types that get pushed around easily will the games get rough
He’s useless for us right now, and I think that’s where a lot of that sentiment is coming from. I think Chia probably has more of an insight than we do on the kid and his potential, especially with how he thinks the kid will learn in our system. Hard to imagine a top 10 pick never makes it as an NHL regular
Is it possible this kid is developed and makes the big club some day? People are talking about him like he is useless. Imagine him and Chara on the ice at the same time.
